WALK AROUND THE ROCK OF CHATEAU VIRANT 4/11/26

SATURDAY, APRIL 11 – 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM

Our walk through the vineyards and olive grove to the Château-Virant Rock orientation table is back!

At the summit, Claude Simeon, lecturer and guide, will recount the history of the Étang de Berre, from its origins to the present day, covering geological upheavals and human traces, from the 8th-century BC hut to the German anti-aircraft battery of 1944. The descent takes place through the garrigue, featuring a guided ethnobotanical walk that combines botany and geology: edible, medicinal, and poisonous plants, as well as their mythological and linguistic origins.

Limited access; reservations required.

Book by Claude SIMEON: “Herbier des collines et des chemins” (Herbarium of Hills and Paths), to be published by Actes Sud (late May 2025), covers all these themes and focuses on 150 plants from our familiar surroundings.
