Sauternes is a small town in the South-West of France, located in the department of Gironde. This city is one of the most prestigious in France.

It is a city known for its production of wine which bears its name: Sauternes. It is a sweet wine made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grapes.

In the region, there is the Chateau d'Yquem known worldwide for its prestigious wine. It is an exceptional place, located in the surroundings of Bordeaux on the hill of Sauternais. Château d'Yquem is a Sauternes appellation wine (AOC) which is recognized for its excellent wines of great quality, thanks to favorable climatic conditions, the great richness of its soil and the competence of the wine growers.

On the estate we find a building dating from the 16th century, offering us more than 400 years of history. The château is a mythical place, where its reputation is well established. Since 1996, LVMH is the majority shareholder of Château d'Yquem.

Château d'Yquem is a wine estate of excellence composed of approximately 113 hectares. Beyond its archives, the care given to the vines is exceptional; the work is done manually and chemical weed killers are prohibited.

Château d'Yquem produces a legendary sweet white wine; it is the only Sauternes wine to be classified as "Premier Cru Supérieur". It remains to this day the best sweet wine in the world.
