Experience the world of rosé during an immersive workshop at Château Virant.
On the agenda: a presentation of Château Virant’s rosé wines, followed by an introduction to wine tasting… just like a true professional.
Observe, smell, taste: the 3 key steps
You’ll learn to analyze a wine in three stages:
The visual
First impressions, first clues. Color, highlights, brilliance, clarity… not to mention the famous “tears” that reveal the wine’s structure.
The nose
Time to smell! You’ll explore the aromas in two stages (first nose, second nose) while familiarizing yourself with the major aromatic families of rosé.
You’ll discover:
Primary aromas (derived from the grape variety: citrus, tropical fruits…)
Secondary aromas (linked to fermentation: strawberry, banana, candy…)
Tertiary aromas (developed with aging)
Special attention will be given to the typical aromatic profiles of grape varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault.
Tasting on the palate
This is where everything comes together. Through retro-olfaction, you’ll learn to “taste the aromas.”
Together, we’ll analyze:
The attack, mid-palate, and finish
The length on the palate (caudalies)
The textures (body, tannins, alcohol)
The balance between acidity, sweetness, and bitterness
Understanding Your Sensations
Beyond the technical aspects, this workshop helps you better understand how we perceive flavors and aromas, and identify the biases that influence our tasting experience.
